While jazz is probably my very favorite style, I also love playing blues, soul and funk tunes behind talented vocalists. I grew up in the Midwest listening to the Paul Butterfield blues band, Buddy Guy, Aretha and everything Stax and Motown. My favorite guitarists include: Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell, Sco, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Robben Ford, Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler. Some of my favorite composers and performers include: Bonnie Raitt, Mary Ann Redmond, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, B.B. King, Budy Guy, Junior Wells, Shemekia Copeland and Huey Lewis and the News. I am well versed in all aspects of guitar playing and music. That is because I was taught by two of Washington's finest: Ken Navarro and Keith Grimes. Accordingly, I am comfortable reading charts, developing parts, providing accompaniment and improvising over complex chord changes. For more information about me, including some sound clips of my playing, check out the rest of my site. Chops Up, Licks Down! |
